One of the best known lighthouses on the Texas coast, Bolivar Lighthouse was built in 1872. This view taken in May is from the gulf shore at Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary and shows a variety of birdlife inland on the floodplain, which is restricted space reserved for nesters. This is as close as I could get at 400mm. You can make out American Avocets, White Ibis, Neotropic Cormorant, American Oystercatcher, Royal Tern and a few fuzzy gulls, perhaps Herrings. I pushed a lot of contrast into the upper half of this photo.

A young House Sparrow lurks on the deck railing near the feeder. Taken from the kitchen window.
