It was nice to see a Long-billed Curlew out on Seawall the other day just hanging out in the grass right by Ferry Road. These winter down here so it seems a bit odd. Nice also to catch one in grassy surroundings rather than the tide muck where I’ve seen them before. I would make this for the male as Jim Stevenson has pointed out many times that the females have even longer bills.
This is out at Apffel the other day. I never see these in town, only the White-wings and much more rarely, Incas. This one paused to yawn before she took off. I also saw one of our resident Crested Caracaras out there that morning. Nothing much else though.
